Employment Type: Full-TimeAbout the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team and drive the development and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and other DevOps technologies, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience software development at some point in their career. In this role, you will work closely with software engineers, SREs, and security teams to automate, scale, and enhance our cloud-based environments. You will play a critical role in optimizing CI/CD workflows, ensuring system reliability, and improving developer productivity. Being a consulting company, we wear a lot of hats – at times, we are doing DevOps automation, at other times we may also do maintenance or development of software systems (we are seeing a large demand in using AI to automate business practices). The ideal candidate would be comfortable learning and working on new tools and technologies and working on several projects or clients at once (though we are careful not to over-book team members, it is common to support a few fractional clients). Responsibilities- Design, implement, and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform and configuration management with Ansible.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain Kubernetes clusters and applications running in Kubernetes clusters in cloud or hybrid environments.
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and improve developer experience.
- Ensure system reliability, availability, and security through monitoring, logging, and incident response best practices.
- Collaborate with software engineers to improve DevOps workflows and best practices or assist in tuning applications to improve performance and scaleability.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization to balance performance, cost, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot production issues across services and infrastructure, applying observability and debugging techniques.
- Contribute to architecture discussions and performance optimization efforts.
- At times, wear a software developer hat doing bugfixes or building solutions (possibly with AI tooling), though most of the work is expected to be around DevOps more than software development.
Required Skills & Experience- 3+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering roles. 7+ years of varied projects and experiences for a principle level resource.
- Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Expertise in Ansible or other configuration management tools.
- Hands-on experience managing applications on Kubernetes in production environments (or similar Platform-as-a-service tools).
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, GitOps methodologies, and DevOps best practices.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, or GCP.
- Experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes-native tools.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, security best practices, and system monitoring.
- Strong scripting and automation skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Datadog.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for automation and efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications- Previous experience as a full-stack software developer (even if not recent) because most systems we work with involve custom software and understanding how the pieces fit together is required to triage incidents.
- Experience working with microservices architectures.
- Knowledge of relational (Oracle DB, SQL Server, Postgres, etc) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop).
- Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) or API gateways.
- Familiarity with security tools and compliance frameworks.
